This week, the Division of IT completed the necessary system changes to eliminate the “Heartbleed” risk on all WCU servers. Faculty, Staff and Students should check their WCU e-mail for information about changing your passwords.
The “Heartbleed” risk is a threat to many websites across the Internet. WCU IT formed an incident mitigation team to address this risk. The team has followed a multistep process to assess the situation, both with systems we are running here on campus as well as systems and services that are hosted off campus by our vendors and other providers. We have made changes to mitigate our risk. As part of this multistep process you will begin receiving reminder notices about your accounts. Students will be asked to change their MyCat password. Faculty and Staff will be asked to change their Outlook password.
If you are having trouble logging into Blackboard, please check your e-mail for information on changing your password.
For any questions or assistance, please contact the IT Help Desk at (828) 227-7487, email@example.com, or http://help.wcu.edu.(As a reminder, IT will never ask you to confirm account information, such as username and password, through e-mail.)
